Search have partnered with a well-known brand on an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant based in Liverpool. This opportunity is perfect for a first-time mover from practice looking to make the transition into industry or someone with exposure in this field. Reporting directly into the Finance Manager, you'll be joining a supportive and dynamic finance team with a focus on both UK and international entities.
The role will give you end-to-end ownership of financial reporting for a group of smaller entities, as well as supporting wider finance team responsibilities. You will also support statutory reporting and assist with ad hoc projects as required.
Key Responsibilities
Ownership of management accounts for smaller UK and international entities
Month-end close activities: journals, accruals, prepayments, payroll journals
Monthly cost and variance analysis and liaison with the wider finance team for commentary against budget
Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet accounts
Review and support of VAT returns
Preparation of statutory accounts and involvement in audit processes
Reviewing payroll and supporting payroll journals
Supporting with ad hoc financial tasks and project work
Oversight and review of work by junior team members as needed
About You
This role would suit someone from an audit background looking to step into their first industry role or a well-established financial accountant.
Skills:
ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified or finalist
Strong understanding of financial statements - ability to interpret P&L and balance sheet
Experience preparing or reviewing statutory accounts (desirable)
Intermediate excel skills and an analytical mindset
Confident posting journals and reconciling accounts
Exposure to VAT returns (preparation or review)
Experience working with smaller or subsidiary companies
Hands-on experience with payroll journals (desirable)
