Job Description

The main purpose of the Financial Accountant role is to ensure the consistent delivery of accurate financial reporting, compliance with tax regulations, and support the overall financial management of the Valeo Foods UK business.

1. Management of the internal month end reporting file
2. Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper accounting records are kept, including ensuring new account codes are set up.
3. Support with intercompany accounting process and ensure all balances reconcile.
4. Completion of period-end review including monthly reporting packs for management reporting and posting period-end journals within VFUK businesses.
5. Completion of monthly group reporting to Valeo Group and liaising directly with them as required.
6. Complete reconciliation of One Stream month end numbers to internal numbers to ensure alignment.
7. Completion of year-end reporting requirements for UK Entities & Valeo Group.
8. Support preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations and journals for internal controls
9. Manage relationship with Dutch professional services firm used for Subsidiary accounting and taxation support.
10. Preparation of corporation tax packs and liaising with Valeo Group Tax team on corporation tax computations and tax matters.
11. Lead the preparation of R&D tax credit claims with external advisors/consultants
12. Lead the preparation and submission of VAT, corporation tax, and other tax returns within statutory deadlines.
13. Maintenance of group fixed asset register and adherence to fixed asset accounting policies, including additions and disposals processes.
14. Provide financial insights and analysis to management for decision-making.
15. Work closely with cross-functional teams to support business operations.

Qualifications

1. Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent accounting qualification at this level)
2. Experience of a financial or management accounts-based finance role (providing insight and commentary) and tax compliance
3. Experience working with ERP/accounting software (e.g., Sage, Oracle, IFS).
4. Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and tax regulations
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
6. Food industry or commercial environment experience preferred but not essential.
