Job summary

Aviva is seeking a Finance Risk and Controls Assurance professional in the UK to strengthen financial reporting controls across UK General Insurance and Direct Line. You will review processes, challenge constructs and build strong relationships with Finance, Risk, Internal Audit and external auditors.

You will deliver assurance activity, identify opportunities for improvement and support remediation of control weaknesses.

Qualifications

• Experience with financial reporting processes within risks and controls in finance/audit/risk/controls assurance.
• Experience planning and delivering controls testing including walkthroughs and operating effectiveness reviews.
• Ability to identify root causes and propose improvements.
• Strong communication with stakeholders and ability to challenge constructively.

Responsibilities

Location: York, Norwich, Glasgow, Bristol, Eastleigh, Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield, Perth or Eastleigh based (50% hybrid working)

This is a great job for someone who enjoys understanding how financial reporting controls work and wants to help strengthen them. You'll be confident reviewing processes, challenging constructively, and building strong relationships across various teams.

This role would suit someone with experience in Finance, audit, risk or controls assurance who enjoys solving problems and improving how things are done.

A bit about the job:

You'll join the Finance Risk and Controls Assurance team supporting UK General Insurance and Direct Line. We help make sure key financial reporting controls are working effectively and continue to meet the needs of the business.

You'll deliver controls assurance activity, identify opportunities for improvement and support sustainable remediation of control weaknesses. You'll work closely with Finance teams, Risk colleagues, Internal Audit and external auditors to provide clear insight and practical recommendations.

Your work will help strengthen confidence in our financial reporting and the wider control environment.

Please note that previous experience in Insurance or Financial Services is essential to be successful in this role.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify underlying causes of issues and recommend improvements
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge
• Ability to prioritise work, manage deadlines and deliver high-quality outputs
