Job summary

The London Borough of Sutton is seeking a Finance Officer within the Income and Finance Team to manage rent accounts and invoicing for clients in Emergency Accommodation. You will process invoices, raise rent in advance invoices, and assist with year-end tasks.

Experience in a similar finance role and proficiency with accounting software are essential. The role offers a collaborative environment and opportunities to develop your financial skills within a supportive council setting.

About the Role and our Ideal Candidate
  • Invoice processing - reconciling monthly supplier invoices to a data base ensuring that we are billed correctly for all clients placed dealing with suppliers and resolving issues identified
  • Purchase Orders for both the nightly paid accommodation and ad hoc as requested across the Housing Advice Service
  • Working with the lettings Team to raise invoices for rent in advance and arranging repayment plans
  • Account reconciliations
  • Year end closing including Accruals etc
About you
  • Experience of working within a similar finance role - Essential
  • Experience using accounting software - Essential
  • Year End Processes -inc Accruals and Purchase Orders Essential
  • Strong mathematical skills - Desirable

About Us

The Income and Finance Team is structured as a Team Leader with 3 Income Officers and 1 Finance Officer. The Income Officers are responsible for the management of all rent accounts for clients placed into Emergency Accommodation including progressing all arrears actions as per the policies and procedures. This includes income collection to set KPIs for the accommodations covered by the team. The Finance Officer is responsible for invoice processing, raising of rent in advance invoices,prevention payment requests and assisting in the year end functions, recording of payments from various budget streams.
