ARCA Consulting Ltd in Gloucester is seeking a Finance Officer to join its Commercial & Finance team on a permanent, hybrid basis. You will work closely with the Finance & Operations Coordinator, Finance Manager and project accountants to support bookkeeping, ledgers, reconciliations and month-end tasks.

The role emphasizes thorough financial record-keeping, VAT coding and expenditure control, with mentoring and development opportunities as part of a growing engineering business.

Qualifications

• Experienced in bookkeeping, accounts administration or a similar transactional finance role.
• Confident using Xero and familiar with purchase and sales ledgers, bank reconciliations and UK VAT coding.
• Numerate, organised and highly attentive to detail.
• Detail-focused with good Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Confident communicating with colleagues, suppliers and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Purchase and sales ledger maintenance and supplier invoice processing.
• Supplier payment runs, bank reconciliations and financial record keeping.
• Credit control, customer receipts and outstanding payment queries.
• Employee expenses, Soldo and company card reconciliations.
• Accurate VAT, nominal and project cost coding.
• Month-end activities, balance-sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.

ARCA Consulting is supporting a growing engineering business in the appointment of a Finance Officer to join its Commercial & Finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in bookkeeping, accounts administration or transactional finance who is looking to develop their career within a growing engineering business.

You’ll work closely with the Finance & Operations Coordinator, Finance Manager, Project Accountants and wider operational teams, supporting:

• Purchase and sales ledger maintenance and supplier invoice processing
• Supplier payment runs, bank reconciliations and financial record keeping
• Credit control, customer receipts and outstanding payment queries
• Employee expenses, Soldo and company card reconciliations
• Accurate VAT, nominal and project cost coding
• Month-end activities, balance-sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules

About You

• Experienced in bookkeeping, accounts administration or a similar transactional finance role.

• Proactive, dependable and keen to learn and develop professionally.

An AAT qualification, working towards AAT, or equivalent practical experience would be advantageous but not essential. Experience with Soldo, employee expenses, credit control, project cost coding, or within engineering, construction, utilities or another project-based business would also be advantageous.
