Finance Officer - London / Essex Border (Accessible by Tube) • Full-time, Permanent

We are seeking a dependable and detail-focused Finance Officer to join a growing finance team. This is a varied role combining transactional accounting with month-end and reporting responsibilities, offering stability and the chance to make a consistent impact.

The Role

You’ll support the Head of Accounts and Senior Management Accountant in ensuring accurate financial information and smooth day-to-day operations. The position covers:

• Weekly bank and corporate card reconciliations
• Ownership of payroll (journals, payslips, RTI submissions)
• Processing invoices, purchase orders, expenses, and supplier reconciliations
• Preparing and submitting VAT and CIS returns
• Completing month-end reconciliations and journals (accruals, prepayments, payroll)
• Assisting with management accounts and year-end processes

What We’re Looking For

• Solid experience in a finance role with exposure to both transactional and month-end tasks
• Strong reconciliation skills and high attention to detail
• Payroll processing and HMRC submissions experience
• Understanding of VAT and CIS requirements
• Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, reconciliations)
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with colleagues and suppliers
• AAT Level 3 or above (or equivalent)
• Background in construction or project-based industries
• Familiarity with Sage 50
