Job summary

Robertson Bell is supporting a growing Academy Trust to recruit a Finance Officer to join its finance team. Created due to continued growth, this is a broad operational role offering significant flexibility around working patterns and the opportunity to develop within a collaborative environment.

You will handle a wide range of finance processes, from invoicing and reconciliations to payroll changes and monthly management accounts, with scope to own different areas as the organisation grows.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Finance Officer, Finance Assistant or similar role.
• Understanding of invoicing, reconciliations and payments.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to manage a varied workload.
• Collaborative approach and ability to work with different stakeholders.
• Education sector experience is helpful but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage finance inbox, orders through the finance system, invoices and credit card controls.
• Complete bank reconciliations and support payment processing.
• Run weekly payment processes and issue remittances.
• Process payroll changes, journals, reconciliations, PAYE and pensions.
• Raise lettings invoices, support VAT claims and monthly management accounts.
• Support pension returns, budget uploads, DfE returns and other finance activity.
• Assist with contract reviews, audits, insurance and leasing agreements.

Created due to continued growth and increased demand on the existing team, this is a broad operational finance role offering significant flexibility around working patterns and the opportunity to develop within a collaborative environment.

The Role

You will have exposure to a wide range of finance processes, including:

• Managing the finance inbox, orders through the finance system, invoices and credit card controls.
• Completing bank reconciliations and supporting payment processing.
• Running weekly payment processes and issuing remittances.
• Processing payroll changes, journals, reconciliations, PAYE and pensions.
• Raising lettings invoices, supporting VAT claims and monthly management accounts.
• Supporting pension returns, budget uploads, DfE returns and other finance activity.
• Assisting with contract reviews, audits, insurance and leasing agreements.

The breadth of the role means you will have the opportunity to take ownership of different areas of finance, learn new processes and build your experience beyond traditional transactional finance. As the organisation continues to grow, there is also scope for the role to develop with it.
