Reports to: Director of Finance & Corporate Affairs
Hours: 21 hours per week
Location: Montgomery House, Belfast
Remuneration: £28,437 - £30,616 Pro-rata (FTE 35 hours)

About the Post

Cancer Focus Northern Ireland is seeking a proactive and organized Finance Officer to join our busy Finance team. This vital role supports the smooth operation of the Finance Department through various finance and administrative tasks, including income processing, accounts payable, and financial record-keeping.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a finance environment, maintaining accurate records, and handling queries from internal and external stakeholders. This position is varied and rewarding, perfect for someone who enjoys collaborative work, can manage competing priorities, and is eager to contribute to an organization supporting local people on their cancer journey.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Sorting, counting, and lodging all monies received.
  2. Processing and coding purchase invoices, staff and volunteer expenses.
  3. Processing supplier payment runs.
  4. Processing sales invoices and following up on credit control functions.
  5. Supporting input of income batches into RaisersEdge.
  6. Assisting with preparation for annual audits.
  7. Inputting credit card donations as received.
  8. Processing corporate credit card transactions/journals to Sage 50.
  9. Administering and reconciling petty cash.
  10. Handling finance correspondence and inquiries via accounts inbox and staff team.
  11. Maintaining organized filing systems on SharePoint.
  12. Providing administrative support to the HR Officer as required.
  13. Learning other finance team duties to provide holiday/absence cover.
  14. Undertaking any other duties relevant to the post.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent qualifications.
  • Relevant experience in a finance office environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, spreadsheets, and accounting software.
  • Ability to use initiative and manage priorities.

Desirable Criteria

  • A recognized accountancy qualification (ATI or similar).
  • Experience with sales and purchase ledger transactions, including invoice processing.
  • Experience coding invoices for posting to the General Ledger.
  • Experience with Sage 50 accounts.
  • Minimum two years relevant finance experience.
Additional Information

Successful applicants must provide proof of right to work in the UK, undergo a Basic Access NI check, and pass reference checks. The role includes a 12-month probation period.
