Principal Consultant - Accountancy & Finance Division at Vanilla Recruitment (UK) Ltd

We are seeking a very ‘hands-on’ part-time Finance Manager to join an established SME business with over 30 years of experience in industrial paint and coatings.

The successful applicant will report to the Managing Director and will be involved in producing management reports as well as monitoring and managing daily financial operations.

This role offers variety and the opportunity to join a cohesive team focused on driving growth and success.

  • 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • 20 days annual holiday + bank holidays (additional day every 2 years up to 25 days), pro-rata

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the Accounts Assistant and overseeing daily transactions
  • Completing journals and posting payments in Sage 200
  • Processing payments and bank reconciliations
  • Reviewing aged debtor reports and managing accruals, prepayments, and depreciation
  • Preparing VAT returns, monthly P&L, balance sheets, and variance analysis
  • Conducting budget reviews and forecasts
  • Year-end reporting with external accountants
  • Covering transactional accounting tasks when needed
  • Managing payroll information and submissions to HMRC
  • Processing employee expenses and liaising on HR matters
  • Handling personal tax returns for management and reviewing service contracts and insurances

Qualifications and experience:

  • ACCA or CIMA part-qualified / AAT or QBE
  • Experience in a small finance team or standalone Finance Manager role
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and Sage 200 preferred
  • Strong technical skills and commercial awareness
  • Confident liaising with directors and stakeholders
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach
