Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a Finance Manager to lead and develop the finance team within a UK SME, ideally in manufacturing. You will oversee day-to-day finance operations, produce timely management accounts and provide financial analysis to support business decisions.

The role reports to the Finance Director, collaborates with operational teams, and focuses on improving profitability and processes. A competitive package includes a £45,000 basic salary, up to 10% bonus, and a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or similar position.
• Experience in an SME, ideally manufacturing or similar operational environment.
• Experience managing and developing finance team members.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good commercial awareness and understanding of how finance can influence business performance.
• Excellent organisation and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software; Sage is useful.
• Confident communication skills and ability to build relationships across the business.

Responsibilities

• Leading, supporting and developing the finance team.
• Overseeing the day-to-day running of the finance function.
• Producing accurate and timely financial reports, reconciliations and ledger information.
• Preparing management accounts, forecasts, cash-flow reporting and financial analysis.
• Managing purchase and sales ledgers, credit control, debtors, creditors and payments.
• Working with operational teams to improve stock control, margins and profitability.
• Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
• Ensuring VAT, HMRC, audit and statutory requirements are met.
• Supporting year-end processes and external audits.
• Acting as a key support to the Finance Director and deputising when required.
