Job summary

Isca Recruitment Ltd is recruiting an experienced Finance Manager for a 12‑month fixed-term contract in Exeter. The role leads a small finance team, oversees month-end, prepares management accounts and supports budgeting, forecasting and compliance.

Hybrid working available with 1–2 days at Exeter Head Office. ACA/ACCA or equivalent is preferred; experience with VAT, statutory accounts, audits and regulatory reporting is essential.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or equivalent accountancy qualification (preferred).
• Recent experience including month-end and management accounting, preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, producing management information and cost centre reporting.
• Knowledge of statutory accounts preparation and external audit processes.
• Experience managing VAT returns and wider financial compliance requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong communication skills with the confidence to build relationships across the organisation.
• A proactive, organised and hands-on approach.
• Payroll and pension administration experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Experience within the charity sector would also be welcomed, although this is not a prerequisite.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a small finance team.
• Manage the month-end close process.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts.
• Produce monthly cost centre reporting and variance analysis.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow reporting.
• Ensure VAT and HMRC compliance.
• Coordinate annual statutory audit processes.
• Support preparation of statutory accounts.
• Complete and submit ONS surveys and other regulatory reporting.
• Maintain and improve finance processes, controls and reporting.
• Work with budget holders and non-finance stakeholders providing financial insight.
• Support ad-hoc projects and continuous improvement across the finance function.
