Job summary

Town Council is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead budgeting, forecasting and financial controls. You will manage banking, investments, VAT, payroll and procurement, reporting to the Town Clerk and councillors, ensuring compliant, well-controlled finances.

The role requires an accounting qualification (AAT or equivalent), strong numerical/analytical skills, and the ability to prioritise deadlines. Hybrid working and pro rata leave are offered.

Qualifications

• Accounting qualification such as AAT or equivalent.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Experience of local government finance would be an advantage but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting and forecasting for the council.
• Prepare and review management accounts and financial reporting.
• Oversee banking, investments, VAT and payroll.
• Manage procurement, financial controls and year-end accounts.
• Coordinate the annual audit process and provide financial guidance to councillors.
