Job Title: Finance Manager - Corporate & Operations
Reports to: Senior Finance Manager - Group Accounting

Department Description

The Group Reporting team is responsible for producing, analysing, reporting, and presenting the periodic operating performance of the C4 organisation. This includes financials such as P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash, Capex, KPIs (both financial and non-financial), and comparative performance analysis.

Job Purpose

This role is crucial within the Group Reporting team, leading the periodic management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting for C4's Corporate & Operations business units, including teams like Legal & Corporate Affairs, Executive, Strategy, Finance, People, and Workspace.

The role reports to and supports the SFM-Group Accounting, consolidating and reporting all periodic management accounting requirements across all close periods (month, quarter, YTD, and FY). It involves managing data and reporting in line with internal controls, policies, and processes, and developing financial systems and reporting tools to enhance understanding of C4's operating performance.

It manages stakeholder relationships across the Corporate and Operations units, leading reporting, forecasting, and budgeting cycles in collaboration with the FP&A team. Additionally, it leads the management accounts team, acting as a conduit for stakeholders regarding YTD actual performance and forecasts, helping them track, understand, and manage budgets and performance for improved forecasts.

This role also involves managing a team of three, providing leadership, guidance, and skills development.

Key Responsibilities
Business Support
  • Lead the consolidated YTD management accounts for the Corporate & Operations business units.
  • Coordinate forecast, budget, and 3YP collaboration with stakeholders and the C4 FP&A team.
  • Serve as a key contact for stakeholders for reporting and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with senior finance leaders and teams.
  • Ensure seamless management account consolidation and timely reporting.
  • Support understanding of financial performance through accurate reporting.
  • Maintain relationships with budget holders and mentor team members.
Management Information & Reporting
  • Oversee reporting timetable and deliverables.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounts and reports.
  • Review and approve reporting packs and narratives.
  • Review work of team members to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain relationships with external auditors.
Team Support
  • Lead and develop the management accounts team.
  • Support year-end audits and statutory accounts.
  • Work with auditors and internal teams on controls and reporting.
Other
  • Assist in system improvements related to Corporate & Operations finance systems.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to senior finance leaders.
Essential Experience & Skills
  • Financial qualification with 3+ years post-qualified management accounting experience.
  • Experience managing stakeholders through reporting, forecasting, and budgeting cycles.
  • Experience leading consolidated management accounts teams in complex organizations.
  • Proficiency with financial systems like Oracle and Workday.
  • Excellent communication skills adaptable to different audiences.
  • Advanced Excel skills; proficient in Word and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated team player with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in system/process improvements.
  • High professionalism and ethical standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Aligned with Channel 4’s remit and values.
Hybrid Working

From September 2023, employees will work a minimum of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home, with flexibility for up to 10 days remote work. Changes will be communicated in advance.

Salary & Application
