Job description

Join to apply for the Finance Manager - Capital Projects role at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to engage with senior leaders, project managers, technical experts, external suppliers, and leading clinicians pushing the boundaries of patient care. As an active member of the dynamic CPO team, you will work with project delivery teams across the Trust, providing essential project management support and driving improvement initiatives. Our team manages the prioritization and portfolio management process, maintains the Trust’s five-year capital plan, and supports major strategic programmes within our clinical groups.

Your role will involve supporting the financial management of capital projects, ensuring accurate reporting of costs, forecasting, and risk identification. You will work within the Portfolio Office team with a professional dotted line into strategic finance to support your professional development.

To be effective, you should have experience in financial management and working on complex change programmes. If you are passionate about innovation and transformation in public healthcare, and possess strong organizational and communication skills, we invite you to apply.

Responsibilities include:
  • Financial Management: Supporting financial management of capital projects, ensuring accurate reporting, forecasting, and risk identification. Acting as a key liaison between finance and project teams to ensure proper governance and controls. Providing support and challenge in financial aspects, including forecasts and business case development.
  • Training: Delivering training to non-finance project staff on finance policies, ensuring updates to meet regulations. Acting as a subject matter expert on finance processes.
  • Leading and delivering special projects as assigned by the Head of Major Programmes.
Person Specification Highlights:
  • CCAB qualified accountant
  • Experience in presenting management information and reporting financial data to non-financial managers
  • Extensive knowledge of NHS financial policies
  • Technical knowledge of accounting, including IFRSs
  • Understanding of financial statements and cash flow interrelationships
  • Ability to identify financial risks and make recommendations in routine and non-routine circumstances
