Job summary

Wade Macdonald is recruiting a Finance Manager for a 12-month fixed-term contract in London with a hybrid working pattern (minimum 2–3 days in the office).

The successful candidate will work closely with the Financial Controller, lead management accounting, financial reporting and control, and drive improvements to finance processes while developing a team of five.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with 3–5 years post-qualified experience.
• Strong knowledge of FRS 102 and IFRS.
• Proven leadership of a finance team and external audit experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and quarter-end processes with timely, accurate reporting.
• Maintain balance sheet integrity with reconciliations and oversight of the management accounting team.
• Strengthen the financial control framework and document controls.
• Collaborate with Accounts Receivable to calculate bad debt provisions.
• Deliver quarterly analytical reviews for P&L and balance sheet performance.
• Coordinate year-end audit and respond to auditor requests.
• Complete quarterly regulatory returns for regulated entities.
• Support corporation tax and VAT matters with external advisers.
• Ensure accounting activity aligns with Group policies and statutory requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency and strengthen controls.
• Lead, support and develop a finance team of five.

About the Job

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to join the organisation during an important period of growth, integration and change. Working closely with the Financial Controller, you will take a leading role in management accounting, financial reporting and control, while supporting improvements to finance processes and developing a team of five.

Duties will include:

• Managing key elements of the month-end and quarter-end cycles, ensuring financial information is delivered accurately and on schedule.
• Maintaining balance sheet integrity through reconciliations, reviews and effective oversight of work completed by the management accounting team.
• Working alongside the Financial Controller to strengthen the financial control framework and ensure appropriate controls are clearly documented and evidenced.
• Calculating bad debt provisions in partnership with the Accounts Receivable Manager.
• Producing quarterly analytical reviews covering both profit and loss and balance sheet performance for Group Finance.
• Coordinating the year-end audit process, responding to auditor requests and working with stakeholders across finance and the wider organisation.
• Completing quarterly regulatory returns for two regulated entities.
• Providing information required for corporation tax and VAT matters and liaising with external tax advisers.
• Ensuring accounting activity remains aligned with Group policies and relevant statutory requirements.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency and enhance financial controls.
• Leading, supporting and developing a finance team of five.

About the Successful Applicant

You will be an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant with 3–5 years' post-qualified experience and strong knowledge of FRS 102 and IFRS. You will bring proven finance team leadership, external audit experience, excellent Excel skills and experience across multiple accounting systems. A confident communicator, you will be comfortable influencing senior stakeholders, challenging constructively and identifying practical improvements to financial processes and controls
