Job description

Citadel Source is delighted to partner with a growing organisation to support the recruitment of their new Finance Manager.

A little bit about our client…

This business operates across multiple markets, delivering complex projects and supporting a wide range of operational and commercial activities. With continued evolution across systems, processes and organisational structure, the company is entering a period of change that brings strong opportunities for development, exposure, and long‑term progression. The environment is fast‑moving, collaborative and focused on improving financial capability and operational efficiency across the wider group.

The role

The Finance Manager will take ownership of day‑to‑day financial operations within the UK finance function. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will lead a transactional finance team of three and manage the full month‑end close, alongside responsibility for year‑end audit preparation and statutory compliance. This is a broad, hands‑on role covering management accounting, financial control, treasury support, covenant monitoring, and continuous improvement. You will also contribute to strategic finance initiatives, including process optimisation and the acceleration of the organisation’s technology roadmap. The position offers visibility, influence, and the opportunity to shape team performance and capability.

About you

We’re seeking a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with 1–2 years’ post‑qualified experience and a strong grounding in financial and management accounting. You will bring experience developing or mentoring junior staff and have a genuine interest in technology‑enabled finance - ERP systems, automation, BI tools, and modern digital processes. You’ll be comfortable operating in both detailed and higher‑level oversight, with strong organisational skills, sound judgement, and the ability to build effective relationships across the business. This role suits someone proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement, with the confidence to lead, coach and influence.

As the Finance Manager, your role will include, but will not be limited to:
  • Ownership of day‑to‑day financial operations and accuracy of all transactions recorded in the ERP system
  • Preparation of consolidated monthly management accounts and analysis for senior review
  • Co‑ordination and review of standalone monthly management accounts
  • Oversight of the end‑to‑end sales process, ensuring strong controls, accurate revenue recognition, and timely cash collection
  • Variance analysis against budget and forecast, including KPI reporting
  • Ownership of balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations, controls, and accounting judgements
  • Ensuring VAT, payroll and foreign taxes are accurately recorded and reported
  • Monitoring stock movements and ensuring system‑driven transactions and GL impacts are correct
  • Leading and supervising the monthly payroll process, with ability to provide cover where required
  • Supporting treasury processes, maintaining visibility of cash balances, and managing surplus cash within covenant boundaries
  • Leading the financial year‑end process, statutory accounts preparation and audit coordination
  • Supporting tax processes, including R&D and Patent Box claims
  • Assisting with grant applications and related reporting
  • Setting up and approving bank payments within delegated limits
  • Supporting timesheet process management and building lease administration
  • Developing ERP system knowledge and managing relationships with external support partners
  • Leading technology adoption across the finance transaction team, identifying automation opportunities and championing best practice
  • Line management and development of the transactional finance team, including performance reviews, coaching and progression planning
  • Supporting recruitment processes where required
  • Promoting a collaborative environment, high performance culture and strong communication across the business
What the client has to offer
  • Hybrid working arrangements
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression
  • Exposure to finance transformation and modernisation
  • Supportive, collaborative team culture
