Trial Balance Consulting is delighted to have been engaged by a highly successful and fast-growing online retail and B2B business – a leader in the wildlife, ecology, and conservation sector – which seeks to recruit an experienced Finance Manager. This is a full-time, permanent position based at the company’s offices in Totnes.

This pivotal role involves working closely with business directors to develop and maintain the health of the company’s finance function. It is broad and rewarding, requiring strong commercial aptitude and excellent management reporting skills. Key responsibilities include:

1. Day-to-day management of the accounts team and transactional and statutory accounting processes, including purchase and sales ledgers
2. Designing and implementing systems and process improvements in collaboration with the management team
3. Production of detailed management accounts with full commentary
4. Supporting accounting processes of the European subsidiary
5. Liaising with external stakeholders and Chartered Accountants
6. VAT preparation and submissions
7. Managing accruals and prepayments
8. P&L forecasting
9. Cashflow forecasting
10. Assisting Directors with company projects requiring financial costings and analysis

Our client is open-minded regarding qualification status and welcomes applicants who are either part/fully ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or those qualified by experience/AAT. Experience with EU trading businesses and multi-currency transactions is advantageous but not essential. The successful candidate should have experience with modern accounting platforms, ideally Oracle NetSuite, and possess strong MS Excel skills. As a prominent member of the business, the Finance Manager will work with a motivated and professional team, making excellent teamwork and communication skills essential.
