Broster Buchanan is partnering with a high-growth, international technology business in Reading to recruit a Finance Manager. This hands-on role reports to the Group Financial Controller and covers monthly close, treasury, VAT, payroll, and financial controls as the business scales internationally.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of month-end close across multiple entities.
• Manage month-end close checklist to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Produce financial analysis and management information for Group CFO and FP&A.
• Provide day-to-day support to Accounts Payable and mentor AP Lead.
• Review credit card accounts and employee expenses.
• Review and authorise supplier payment runs within limits.
• Prepare VAT returns and support statutory finance requirements.
• Manage treasury activities including cashflow monitoring and bank reconciliations.
• Oversee payroll from a finance perspective and prepare related journals.
• Maintain strong financial controls and audit trails.
• Support internal/external audits and ensure audit readiness.
• Collaborate with People and other functions to optimise finance processes.

I’m currently working with a high-growth, international technology business who are looking to appoint a Finance Manager to join their growing finance team.

This is a broad, hands-on opportunity reporting directly into the Group Financial Controller, with responsibility across month-end, treasury, VAT, payroll, financial controls and process improvement.

The Finance Manager will play an important role in strengthening the finance function as the business continues to scale internationally. It's a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to the detail but also wants the opportunity to improve processes and build something for the future.

The role As the Finance Manager, you'll take ownership of a broad range of operational finance activities, including:

• Taking a lead role in the month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities.
• Managing the month-end close checklist and ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
• Producing financial analysis, reconciliations and management information for the Group Financial Controller and FP&A team.
• Providing day-to-day support to Accounts Payable and mentoring the AP Lead.
• Reviewing credit card accounts and employee expenses.
• Reviewing and authorising supplier payment runs within agreed approval limits.
• Preparing VAT returns and supporting wider statutory finance requirements.
• Managing treasury activities, including cashflow monitoring, bank reconciliations and cash availability across the group.
• Overseeing payroll from a finance perspective, including reviewing external payroll submissions and preparing associated journals.
• Maintaining strong financial controls, segregation of duties and clear audit trails.
• Supporting internal and external audits and ensuring the finance function remains audit-ready.
• Managing finance queries from internal and external stakeholders.
• Working closely with People and other business functions to ensure finance processes support the wider organisation.

There is also a significant continuous improvement element to the role. You'll have the opportunity to improve processes, systems and controls, introduce scalable ways of working and support the finance set-up of new countries and entities as the business expands.

What they're looking for The ideal Finance Manager will have a strong operational finance or financial accounting background, with experience across:

• Month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
• VAT, payroll finance and statutory compliance.
• Financial controls and governance.
• ERP finance systems and strong Excel skills.
• Process improvement and improving finance processes.
• Working across multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities.

Experience within a high-growth, international or multi-entity environment would be particularly beneficial, as would experience with NetSuite or another cloud-based ERP.

The person They're looking for someone who is genuinely hands-on and happy to roll their sleeves up and get into the detail.

You'll need strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, while also being comfortable challenging existing processes and looking for better ways of working.

The Finance Manager will also need to demonstrate sound judgement, integrity and strong communication skills, with the confidence to work with stakeholders across the wider organisation.
