Job summary

Numbers tell a story, and on the LNER contract there are two of them running at once, twelve internal period-ends, thirteen for the client. If juggling that sounds like your kind of challenge rather than your kind of headache, read on.

We're looking for a Finance Manager to take the financial reins of one of our flagship contracts. You'll own the month-end close, dig into the variances nobody else has time to chase, and turn a wall of actuals and forecasts into insight the business can actually use. Just as importantly, you'll build the sort of relationships with the customer and the internal LNER team that make good financial performance possible in the first place.

What you'll be doing

Leading all finance activity across the contract, from month-end reporting to risk-adjusted forecasting. Keeping revenue and costs honest and correctly accounted for. Building the weekly and monthly reporting tools that drive smart decisions. Owning the annual budgets, internal and external. And answering the ad-hoc "can you just look into..." requests that inevitably land when you're the one who knows the numbers best.

What you'll bring

You're a fully qualified management accountant (ACCA/CIMA) with Finance Manager experience in manufacturing or FMCG. You know your way around advanced Excel and financial modelling, and MS Dynamics 365 or SAP wouldn't faze you. You thrive under deadline pressure, spot the detail others miss, and can stand in front of senior stakeholders and explain a complicated dataset without sending anyone to sleep. Managing competing priorities across dual reporting cycles is second nature.
