Job summary

Sheridan Maine is partnering with a fast-growing business in Hertfordshire to recruit a Finance Manager. This on-site role leads the day-to-day finance function, providing robust financial insight to drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement.

You will oversee reporting, controls, payroll, VAT and compliance, while supporting budgeting and strategic decision-making. ACCA/CIMA/ACA-qualified candidates or equivalent experience are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day finance function with timely, accurate information.
• Manage monthly payroll and related statutory reporting.

• Oversee supplier payments, cash flow and banking activities.
• Prepare and review month-end accounts including accruals/prepayments.
• Produce regular financial reports and present findings to leadership.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Monitor customer accounts, credit limits and debts.
• Oversee billing, invoicing and credit control processes.
• Maintain robust financial controls across the business.

As the organisation enters its next stage of growth, they are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and play a key role in supporting the wider business.

This is a fully on-site position offering the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, providing meaningful financial insight and helping to drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement.

The Role

As Finance Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial controls and regulatory compliance. You will also take a proactive approach to improving processes and supporting commercial decision-making.

Your key Responsibilities as Finance Manager

• Manage the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
• Oversee monthly payroll and related statutory reporting requirements.
• Manage VAT, pensions and other financial compliance requirements.
• Oversee supplier payments, cash flow and banking activities.
• Prepare and review month-end accounts, including accruals and prepayments.
• Produce regular financial reports and present key findings to senior leadership.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and wider financial planning.
• Monitor customer accounts, credit limits and outstanding debts.
• Oversee billing, invoicing and credit control processes.
• Ensure robust financial controls and processes are maintained across the business.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve processes and financial efficiency.Lead, support and develop the finance team, ensuring work is completed accurately and on time.

About You

We are looking for a confident and commercially minded finance professional who enjoys taking ownership and making a genuine contribution to a growing business.

You will ideally have:

• Strong experience in a financial management or senior finance position.
• Excellent knowledge of financial management, budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
• Good understanding of financial compliance, legislation and risk management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn financial data into meaningful insights.
• A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualification is highly desirable, although relevant experience will also be considered.
