Sheridan Maine is partnering with a well-established organisation in Central London to recruit a Finance Manager on a part-time, office-based basis. You will take ownership of the full finance function while staying connected with the wider team through events and governance meetings.

The role requires a qualified accountant with strong technical finance skills and excellent interpersonal abilities. You will support senior leaders and manage day-to-day financial operations.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
• Experience leading a finance function or wide-ranging finance role.
• Ability to prepare management accounts, budgets, forecasts and cash-flow information.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end management of the finance function.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and prepare monthly management accounts.
• Prepare annual budgets, forecasts and reforecasts.
• Monitor financial performance, income and expenditure; investigate variances.
• Manage cash flow and financial controls.
• Provide financial analysis and support to senior stakeholders.
• Oversee payroll, VAT returns and year-end processes.

Finance Manager

Sheridan Maine is delighted to be working with a well-established and highly regarded organisation in Central London to recruit a Finance Manager to take responsibility for its finance function.

This is a particularly interesting opportunity for a qualified accountant looking for a part-time role with genuine ownership and variety. Working within a small and close-knit organisation, you will have responsibility for the full finance function while also becoming an important part of the wider team.

This is much more than a traditional finance role. Alongside managing the day-to-day finances, you will have the opportunity to attend and contribute to a programme of prestigious events, building relationships with members, guests, colleagues and other stakeholders.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about finance but equally enjoys working with people, contributing to a team and getting involved in the wider organisation.

The Role

As Finance Manager, you will have end-to-end responsibility for the finance function, ensuring that financial processes are accurate, efficient, well controlled and compliant with relevant UK requirements.

• Taking ownership of the day-to-day management of the finance function.
• Maintaining accurate and complete accounting records.
• Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports for senior leadership and governance meetings.
• Preparing annual budgets, forecasts and regular reforecasts.
• Monitoring financial performance, income and expenditure and investigating variances.
• Managing cash flow and maintaining appropriate financial controls.
• Providing financial analysis, advice and support to senior stakeholders.
• Managing sales and purchase ledgers, including invoicing and credit control.
• Processing supplier invoices, expenses and payment runs.
• Managing bank accounts and completing regular reconciliations.
• Processing and reconciling income and subscriptions.
• Managing payroll and pensions.
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
• Leading the year-end finance process and preparing information for annual accounts.
• Liaising with external accountants, auditors and other advisers.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, HMRC requirements and financial regulations.
• Maintaining and improving financial policies, procedures and controls.
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial systems and processes.

About You

We are looking for a qualified accountant who combines strong technical finance experience with excellent interpersonal skills.

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Proven experience in a similar Finance Manager or broad finance role.
• Experience managing a complete or wide-ranging finance function.
• Strong experience preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and cash-flow information.
• A thorough understanding of transactional finance, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A collaborative, hands-on approach and genuine team-player mentality.
