Full-time Permanent

Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a hands‑on role where you can make a real difference? We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Finance Manager to lead the day‑to‑day finance function, provide valuable financial insight and support the continued growth and sustainability of a multi‑site organisation.

The Role

As Finance Manager, you will take ownership of the day‑to‑day finance function, ensuring financial information is accurate, timely and meaningful. You will oversee management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, payroll processes and financial controls, while supporting managers to understand performance and manage costs effectively.

You will play a key role in maintaining financial compliance, improving systems and processes, and ensuring the organisation has the financial information it needs to operate efficiently and plan for the future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheets, cash flow reports and variance analysis.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, providing financial insight and recommendations to senior management.
  • Oversee purchase and sales ledgers, invoicing, supplier payments, bank reconciliations and credit control.
  • Monitor income, expenditure and cash flow, identifying risks and opportunities to improve financial performance.
  • Oversee payroll processes, ensuring accurate calculations, timely payments and appropriate financial reconciliations.
  • Work closely with operational managers to monitor budgets, staffing costs and expenditure, supporting effective cost management.
  • Maintain robust financial controls, policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant statutory, tax and reporting requirements.
  • Support year‑end accounts preparation, external audits and requests for financial information.
  • Produce clear financial reports and dashboards to support decision‑making at senior management level.
  • Lead and support the development of the finance team, ensuring responsibilities are clearly allocated and deadlines are met.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting, automation and overall efficiency.
  • Build strong working relationships across the organisation, communicating financial information clearly to non‑finance colleagues.
About You

We are looking for an organised, analytical and commercially aware finance professional who can take ownership of the finance function while working collaboratively with colleagues across the business.

You will be confident managing competing priorities, meeting deadlines and translating financial information into practical advice that supports business performance.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • At least five years' relevant finance or accounting experience.
  • Experience preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and cash flow reports.
  • Strong knowledge of financial controls, reconciliations and month‑end processes.
  • Practical experience overseeing payroll processes and monitoring workforce costs.
  • Excellent Excel skills and confidence using accounting software and digital finance systems.
  • The ability to analyse financial information, identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the confidence to work with senior leaders and operational managers.
  • A high level of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality and manage competing deadlines.

A recognised accountancy qualification, such as ACCA, ACA or CIMA, or equivalent demonstrable senior finance experience, is required.

Desirable Experience

Experience within social care, healthcare, a regulated environment or a multi‑site organisation would be advantageous. Familiarity with Sage, Xero or similar accounting systems, as well as experience with commissioner billing, payroll providers, audit preparation or financial process improvements, would also be beneficial.

What's on Offer?
  • Salary of up to 45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Full‑time, permanent employment.
  • A varied, hands‑on role with the opportunity to influence financial performance.
  • The opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and operational teams.
  • Scope to improve systems, processes and financial reporting.
