Job description

Global Accounting Network are partnering with this impressive global education client on the search for their new Finance Manager, based in one of their schools in Bodiam East Sussex. The role is broad including team leadership, managing day to day finance operations and owing financial reporting, management accounts and year-end statements. We are looking for qualified accountants (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a broad skill set and managerial experience.

The Role -

• Manage and support a team of two, promoting and supporting professional development and continuous improvement
• Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly and annual financial information per the reporting timetable, including KPI reporting, monthly P&L budget variance and cash flow.
• Work closely with the Bursar to shape financial strategy and reporting
• Act as a technical accounting expert, advising on compliance and policy changes.
• Provide support for budget planning and forecasting, monthly and annual reporting.
• Oversee key financial systems.
• Collaborate with operational teams to improve AP and AR functions, systems and processes.
• Be the school lead on VAT related matters
• Manage and lead on internal and external financial audits, achieve excellent outcomes and implement any corrective actions
• Prepare management accounts and year-end financial statements
• Establish, manage and maintain strong controls around credit collections for the school and set KPI’s.
• Establish a robust system of control for the purchase of goods and services.
• Ensure we are getting the best value for money from the school suppliers by implementing the school’s procurement policy.
• Ensure accurate general ledger reconciliations including deferred income and cash and relevant Balance Sheet accounts are performed.
• Design, maintain and enforce a robust internal control system
• Work closely with HR on people related processes such as payroll posting and reconciliation.

The Person -

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Experience in financial accounting and strong technical accounting skills including a good knowledge of IFRS
• Excellent understanding of tax regulations and compliance standards
• Confident working with complex reconciliations and financial systems.
• Rigorous and with attention to detail
• Experience leading and coaching team members
• Excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills
• Flexibility, multi-tasking mindset and an ability to deal with shifting priorities
• Advanced Excel skills essential
• Demonstrable understanding of working with information systems and implementing ERPs
• Fluent in written and spoken English
