Job summary

Precision People UK is recruiting an experienced Finance Manager to own the finance function in a growing SME. The role is office-based in Accrington and involves hands-on management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and reporting to the owners and senior management.

You will lead a small finance team, streamline processes, implement KPIs, and enhance Sage 200 and ERP systems while supporting commercial decisions on leases, fleet and insurance.

Qualifications

• Experience producing management accounts (month-end and year-end).
• Budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis experience.
• Commutable to Accrington with own transport.
• Experience with Sage 200, SAP, Xero or similar accounting/ERP systems.
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
• Commercial mindset with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive improvements across systems and processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and close.
• Develop budgets and forecasts to support business growth.
• Manage a small finance team.

• Ensure accurate reporting across stock, labour and WIP.
• Maintain and improve financial controls and processes.
• Oversee sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll and transactional finance activities.

• Continuously improve Sage 200 and the company ERP.
• Support commercial discussions including leases, fleet and insurance.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Provide financial insight to support senior management decision-making.

Are you an experienced Finance Manager looking for an opportunity to take ownership of the finance function within a growing SME?

An established, family-owned engineering services business is looking to recruit a Finance Manager as part of its continued growth. The company supplies equipment and services to customers throughout the UK.

This is a broad, hands-on position where you will work closely with the owners and senior management team, providing the financial information and commercial insight needed to support business decisions. With the business looking to bring more of its finance function in-house, you will have the opportunity to improve existing processes, systems and reporting while taking responsibility for the wider finance function. The role is office-based in Accrington.

Other titles might include: Senior Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Senior Finance Manager, Head of Finance, Company Accountant, Finance Lead, Senior Management Accountant, Senior Accountant, Head of Accounts or similar.

The Role - Finance Manager:

Key Candidate Requirements - Finance Manager:

We're looking for an experienced finance professional who is comfortable operating within a hands-on SME environment.

You should have:

• Experience producing management accounts, including month-end and year-end reporting
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
• Commutable to Accrington with own transport
• Confidence using accounting/ERP systems such as Sage 200, SAP, Xero or similar
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills
• A commercial mindset with the confidence to positively challenge and influence senior stakeholders
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and drive improvements across systems and processes

The Package:

• £50,000-£58,000 salary per annum
