Responsibilities
  • Produce insightful management information to support the business category plan, through understanding the impacts of price, category ranges, sku profitability and cost challenges.
  • Being a strategic business partner by conducting detailed category P&L analysis to support long-term development strategy.
  • Providing framework and analysis as an input in the budget, reforecasting and strategic planning process, including understanding range performance and evaluation of promotional performances.
  • Monitoring sales, margin and rate trends vs forecast to ensure good understanding of risks and opportunities. Advising stakeholders on corrective action at a total category, sku and vendor level.
  • Conducting ad hoc analysis as required to ensure delivery of the plans including decision support on one-off events and helping to influence the business to make decisions.
  • Consistently seek to identify opportunities that deliver value to benefit the bottom line.
  • Works with other Finance Analysts to share knowledge and ensure best practice is shared across the team.
  • Works with the finance reporting and data team to ensure reports are simple, consistent, accurate and received in good time.
Qualifications
  • Qualified accountant in CIMA, ACCA or ACA. Final exam level will be considered as well.
  • Commercially aware and highly numerate.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and propose solutions.
  • Ability to communicate performance in a meaningful way to non-finance colleagues.
  • Strong sense of ownership.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adjust to new demands.
  • A desire to drive continuous improvement and challenge the "status quo"
