Finance Business Partner - Birmingham

Job Title: Finance Business Partner

Responsible to: Head of Finance

Location: Parklands

Department: Finance

Overall Purpose of the Role: An influential and high-profile role delivering financial and commercial support to one of the company's largest contracts. Through effective business partnering, the role will continually improve service levels, cost effectiveness, and add value to commercial activities undertaken.

Key Accountabilities:

• Business Partner Account and Operations Directors, ensuring strong commercial and operational decision-making, managing financial risks and opportunities.
• Develop strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including colleagues, customers, and subcontractors.
• Work with the wider finance team to develop KPIs and ensure focus on metrics that drive profitable growth.
• Preparation and review of annual budgets and reforecasting.
• Month-end journals and accounts closure.
• Preparation and review of management information, including variance analysis and performance reporting.
• Prepare monthly business review pack and present at MD/Head of Finance meetings.
• Balance sheet reviews and compliance with Group Accounting Manual, maintaining understanding of SAP and Nexus.
• Promote working capital improvements through timely contract billing and active debt management.
• Manage financial risks and opportunities across contracts.
• Oversee contract amendments and service pricing, ensuring strategic consistency.
• Challenge and evaluate investment decisions.
• Provide ad-hoc financial analysis to support decision-making.
• Support site operations as needed.
• Line manage and develop the finance team.

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

• CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualification with 3+ years post-qualification experience.
• Experience in large contract management; FM experience is desirable but not essential.
• Experience in budgeting and forecasting.
• Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling.
• Proven business partnering with non-financial colleagues at senior levels.
• Comfortable working in uncertain, fast-paced environments.
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities with clear communication of outcomes.
• Results-oriented, decisive, resilient.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Line management experience.
