Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking an experienced finance leader to join the East Midlands Cancer Alliance. You will combine technical expertise with stakeholder engagement to oversee financial governance, budgeting, planning and reporting across the regional programme.

The role is based at County Hall, Leicester, with hybrid working and regular travel across the East Midlands. You will work with senior NHS leaders to shape funding strategies and improvements in cancer care

Qualifications

  • CCAB/CIMA qualified and current member of recognised professional body.
  • Extensive post-qualification financial management experience.
  • Strong NHS finance knowledge and governance.
  • Experience in budgeting, planning and forecasting.
  • Excellent analysis and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and build relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial leadership and governance across a large NHS organisation.
  • Oversee budget setting, financial planning and forecasting for regional cancer programme.

About you

We're looking for an experienced finance leader who can combine strong technical expertise with excellent stakeholder engagement skills.

You’ll have:

  • CCAB or CIMA professional qualification with current membership of a recognised professional body.
  • Significant post-qualification experience in financial management within a complex organisation.
  • Extensive knowledge of NHS finance, financial governance and healthcare policy.
  • Experience of budget setting, financial planning and forecasting.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, including experience of presenting financial information to senior stakeholders.
  • The ability to build productive relationships across organisational boundaries.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Working arrangements

The role is based at County Hall, Leicester, with hybrid working available. Regular travel across the East Midlands is required, including visits to provider Trusts, Integrated Care Boards and regional meetings. The successful candidate must be able to travel independently throughout the region.

Knowledge, Training and Experience
Essential criteria
  • CCAB/CIMA qualified and current member of recognised professional body.
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent;
  • Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development;
  • Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement
  • An appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health, individual provider and commissioning organisations

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

Please note if you are successful in obtaining this position and the post involves regulated activity you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service check.

The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.

The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.
