Job summary

Stanton House is exclusively partnering with a privately owned construction business to appoint a Finance Business Partner in Hatfield. You will work within a growing finance function, embedded with project teams to drive commercial insight and robust financial governance.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in a project-based environment.
• 2–3 years' experience in project accounting, commercial finance or finance business partnering.

Responsibilities

• Partner with project managers to support delivery and commercial performance.
• Review budgets, forecasts and cost plans; challenge assumptions and improve financial robustness.
• Monitor project performance through the lifecycle; identify risks, variances and opportunities for improvement.
• Produce project profitability analysis and provide insight to support decision-making.
• Support contract reviews, project variations and change management processes.
• Manage work-in-progress reporting and revenue recognition across the project portfolio.
• Contribute to month-end close activities and project reporting.
• Prepare monthly project performance reports and management commentary for leadership teams.
• Maintain strong financial controls across project processes including cost management and P.O. governance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting across projects and business units.
• Drive improvements in reporting, systems utilisation and data quality.

Finance Business Partner required for a Construction organisation based in Hatfield!

Stanton House is exclusively partnering with a privately owned construction business to appoint a Finance Business Partner within its growing finance function.

The business delivers end-to-end projects, combining design, project delivery and construction services. Following a period of significant growth, revenues have increased substantially and the company is forecasting a strong pipeline of future work. With project activity continuing to scale, the leadership team is looking to strengthen the link between finance and operations through the appointment of a commercially focused finance professional.

This is a newly created opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional looking to move beyond traditional management accounting responsibilities and become embedded within a project-led business.

Acting as a finance business partner to operational and project teams, you will help improve project visibility, financial accountability and commercial decision-making across a growing portfolio of work. You will work closely with project managers, providing insight, challenge and support throughout the project lifecycle while ensuring accurate reporting and strong financial governance.

The role offers significant exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape processes, improve reporting and influence business performance during an exciting growth phase.

To successfully deliver in the profile position, you will need to have:

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Experience within a project-based environment
• Around 2-3 years' experience in project accounting, commercial finance, finance business partnering or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of project reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Knowledge of WIP accounting and revenue recognition within a project-led business.
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyse and present financial information clearly.
• Comfortable building relationships with non-finance stakeholders and influencing decision-making.
• Commercial mindset with the confidence to challenge constructively and add value.
• Highly organised, proactive and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
