Job summary

Mackie Myers, partnering with a scaling SME retail business in Bicester, requires a Finance Business Partner to strengthen the finance team. The role focuses on reporting, budgeting, forecasting and close collaboration with Operations, Supply Chain and Commercial teams to drive financial insight and growth.

The successful candidate will bring ACCA/ACA/CIMA progression or equivalent, strong management accounting skills, ERP experience and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset to influence

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate monthly management accounts with variance analysis and commentary.
• Partner with Operations, Supply Chain and Commercial teams to provide financial insight.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting processes across key functions.
• Analyse sales, margin, stock and KPIs to identify risks and opportunities.
• Support business leaders with financial modelling and commercial analysis.
• Drive profitability and cost control through challenging budget holders.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and investigate P&L variances.
• Manage weekly cashflow forecasts and working capital performance.
• Support inventory reporting and stock management initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvements in finance processes and systems.
• Support statutory reporting and year-end audit requirements.

Our Client

Mackie Myers have partnered with a scaling SME retail business in Bicester to appoint a Finance Business Partner into their expanding finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to join the business during a period of growth and play a key role in supporting operational and commercial decision-making.

The Role

The Finance Business Partner is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, while partnering closely with Operations, Supply Chain and Commercial teams. Built on a technically strong accounting foundation, this role combines core management accounting responsibilities with commercial finance and stakeholder engagement, providing meaningful financial insight to support decision-making, drive performance improvements and support the business's continued growth.

Main Duties

• Produce accurate monthly management accounts, including detailed variance analysis and performance commentary.
• Partner with Operations, Supply Chain and Commercial teams to provide financial insight and support decision-making.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting processes across key business functions.
• Analyse sales, margin, stock and operational KPIs, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Support business leaders with financial modelling and commercial analysis.
• Challenge and support budget holders to improve profitability and cost control.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate key P&L variances.
• Maintain and update weekly cashflow forecasts, analysing key variances and working capital performance.
• Ensure accurate inventory reporting and support stock management initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvements across finance processes, reporting and systems.
• Support statutory reporting and year-end audit requirements.
• Build strong relationships with non-finance stakeholders and promote financial understanding across the business.

The Successful Candidate

• Qualified or studying towards ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a Finance Business Partner, Management Accountant or Commercial Finance role.
• Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting experience.
• Experience partnering with non-finance stakeholders and influencing decision-making.Stock experience required
• Strong understanding of financial controls, reporting and commercial analysis.
• Experience using ERP or finance systems.
• Highly organised, proactive and detail-oriented, with a commercial and continuous improvement mindset.
