Job summary

Astute Recruitment are working with an established business in Derby to recruit a Finance Assistant on a permanent basis. Working closely with the Financial Controller, this is a varied role offering the opportunity to develop beyond transactional finance, gaining exposure to month-end, management accounts, financial reporting, stock and costings.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in accounts or finance, a good understanding of core accounting principles including Purchase and Sales

Qualifications

• Experience in accounts or finance roles.
• Solid understanding of core accounting principles (Purchase/Sales Ledger).
• Willingness to develop month-end, management accounts and costings skills.
• Strong Excel and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end and preparation of management accounts.
• Prepare journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Analyse financial information and investigate variances.
• Support stock reconciliations, valuations and costings.
• Review costs and identify discrepancies.
• Process Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger transactions.
• Manage supplier reconciliations, queries and credit control.
• Maintain accurate financial records and support the Financial Controller with projects.
