Job summary

Astute Recruitment are working with an established business in Derby to recruit a Finance Assistant on a permanent basis. Working closely with the Financial Controller, this is a varied role offering the opportunity to develop beyond transactional finance, gaining exposure to month-end, management accounts, financial reporting, stock and costings.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in an accounts or finance role, a solid grasp of core accounting principles and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an accounts or finance role.
• Strong understanding of core accounting principles, including Purchase and Sales Ledger.
• Keen to develop technical accounting skills across month-end and costings.
• Proficient in Excel with strong analytical ability.
• Excellent attention to detail and able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end and preparation of management accounts.
• Prepare journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Analyse financial information and investigate variances.
• Support stock reconciliations, valuations and costings.
• Review costs and identify discrepancies.
• Process Purchase and Sales Ledger transactions.
• Manage supplier reconciliations, queries and credit control.
• Maintain accurate records and assist with finance projects.
