Job summary

VennGroup is seeking a Finance Assistant to join an established finance team. The role focuses on accounts payable, purchase ledger, and general finance support, with opportunities to develop skills within a collaborative environment.

You will process invoices, perform payments, and maintain accurate records, while assisting colleagues across the business. A proactive attitude and attention to detail are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Accounts Payable or purchase ledger.
  • Experience using finance software, preferably Sage 50.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise.
  • Effective communication and customer-focused approach.
  • Experience in public sector housing or social housing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Processing supplier invoices and ensuring accurate coding to cost centres
  • Preparing and processing supplier payment runs in line with company procedures
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving invoice discrepancies
  • Managing supplier queries in a professional and timely manner
  • Downloading and importing daily income transactions into internal systems
  • Posting and allocating payments while maintaining accurate financial records
  • Reconciling petty cash, credit card, and bank accounts
  • Producing account reconciliations and supporting monthly finance processes
  • Managing the finance inbox and providing administrative support to the wider team
  • Ordering stationery and assisting with general office administration

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join an established finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with accounts payable or purchase ledger experience who is looking to develop their finance career within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations, maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices and payments, and supporting colleagues across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Processing supplier invoices and ensuring accurate coding to cost centres
  • Preparing and processing supplier payment runs in line with company procedures
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving invoice discrepancies
  • Managing supplier queries in a professional and timely manner

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience within Accounts Payable, Purchase Ledger, or a similar finance role
  • Experience using finance software, ideally Sage 50

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and support colleagues

Experience within a Public sector organisation, Housing Association, or Social Housing would be advantageous.
