Job summary

GRW Talent invites applications for a Finance Assistant to join a busy on-site finance team in Scotland. You'll handle purchase and sales ledgers, VAT returns and assist payroll while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will contribute to monthly management reporting, bank reconciliations and year-end processes, maintaining confidential information with discretion.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a finance or accounts role.
  • Good understanding of financial compliance and double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Experience using accounting software such as Xero or Sage.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work accurately and independently.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A professional, honest and discreet approach when handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full purchase ledger process, including purchase orders, invoices, supplier statements and payment runs.
  • Process and maintain the sales ledger, including raising invoices, allocating customer payments and managing credit control.
  • Administer company credit cards and employee expenses.
  • Prepare, reconcile and submit VAT returns.
  • Complete daily bank reconciliations.
  • Support the monthly payroll process, including HMRC submissions, pensions, CIS and electric car schemes.
  • Set up new employees within payroll and issue associated HR documentation.
  • Assist the Finance Director with monthly reporting, year-end processes and board reporting.

Working Pattern: Full-time, Permanent - Fully On-Site

Our client is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in transactional finance who enjoys working in a varied role and takes pride in maintaining accurate financial records. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will support the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring financial information is processed accurately, efficiently and in line with company procedures. The role covers purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll, VAT, bank reconciliations and general finance administration.

Key Responsibilities
