The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of our finance department. Your primary focus will be on managing our accounts receivable, minimising credit risk, and optimising cash flow. This role is ideal for a self-motivated individual who is eager to take ownership of their responsibilities and contribute to the financial stability of the company.

Credit Control

  • Proactively manage and collect debts from company debtors in a timely and professional manner.
  • Issue timely and accurate invoices and statements to customers.
  • Monitor aged debtors and produce regular reports for the Finance Manager.
  • Liaise with customers to resolve queries and disputes promptly, maintaining positive relationships.
  • Prepare and send out reminder emails and make follow-up calls as required.
  • Escalate overdue accounts to the Finance Manager for further action when necessary.

Cash Management

  • Process incoming payments and accurately allocate cash to customer accounts on Xero.
  • Perform daily and weekly bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accounted for.
  • Monitor daily cash balances on Xero.
  • Process staff expenses in line with company policy.
  • Assist with the processing of supplier payments

General Finance Administration

  • Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in Xero.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks within the finance department as required.
  • Assist accountants with preparing payroll and pension contributions.
  • Support for the Finance Manager to cover annual leave/sickness.
  • Ad-hoc assistance to accountants.

Preferable Experience

  • Experience with accounting software (e.g Xero, Sage, QuickBooks).
  • Experience in a finance or accounting role with a strong focus on credit control.
  • A solid understanding of basic accounting principles.

Details

  • Part-time, 3 days per week/22.5 hours per week
  • Salary starting at £27,000 FTE (£16,200 actual)
