Job summary

Vitae Financial Recruitment is supporting an established organisation in Aylesbury to appoint an Interim Finance Assistant to join their Financial Control team. This hands-on role covers reconciliations, transactional finance, journals, payment activity and balance sheet controls.

The ideal candidate will have experience in transactional finance, strong reconciliation skills, and experience with journals and accounting systems.

Qualifications

• Experience in a transactional finance or financial control environment.
• Strong reconciliation skills with attention to detail.
• Experience with journals and accounting systems; good Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete and own allocated payment, cash and account reconciliations; investigate discrepancies.
• Produce regular reporting and identify variances; take appropriate action.
• Process refunds, commissions and other transactional finance activity; ensure accurate entries.
• Prepare and post journals relating to clearing and other finance processes.
• Complete allocated Balance Sheet reconciliations; follow up on outstanding items.
• Support the annual audit process by providing relevant information and documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency.
• Provide support to the Finance Manager and wider team on ad hoc projects and activities.

Finance Assistant - Interim

Location: Aylesbury / Hybrid - 3 days per week

Duration: 3-6 months

Rate: Equivalent to circa £30,000 salary level, paid on a day-rate basis

We are supporting a well-established organisation with the appointment of an Interim Finance Assistant to join their Financial Control team.

This is a hands-on role covering reconciliations, transactional finance, journals, payment activity and balance sheet controls. You'll play an important role in ensuring financial information is accurate and processes remain well controlled.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete and take ownership of allocated payment, cash and account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Produce regular reporting and identify variances, taking appropriate action where required.
• Process refunds, commissions and other transactional finance activity, ensuring accurate accounting entries.
• Prepare and post journals relating to clearing and other finance processes.
• Complete allocated Balance Sheet reconciliations, following up on outstanding items.
• Support the annual audit process by providing relevant information and documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency.
• Provide support to the Finance Manager and wider team on ad hoc projects and activities.

About You

• Previous experience in a transactional finance, accounts or financial control environment.
• Strong reconciliation skills with good attention to detail.
• Experience with journals and accounting systems.
• Good Excel skills.
• Organised, proactive and able to work to deadlines.
• Confident communicator, comfortable working with colleagues across the business.
• Available to undertake an initial 3-6 month interim assignment.
