Job summary

Shoosmiths LLP is seeking a Finance Apprentice in Northampton on a fixed-term contract. You will support the wider Finance department and gain exposure to Cashiering, Billing, Financial Accounts and more.

The firm offers full support for the AAT qualification and one day of paid study leave per week. Ideal candidates will have excellent communication, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage their workload while meeting tight deadlines within a collaborative finance team.

Qualifications

• Positive with can do attitude.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good IT literacy (Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Organised and reliable with a neat work approach.
• Flexible and able to work across a small local and larger Finance team.

Responsibilities

• Processing and reviewing financial transactions.
• Supporting billing, cash management and reconciliation.
• Assisting with accounts payable and expense processing.
• Responding to finance-related queries from colleagues and suppliers.
• Preparing reports and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Supporting regulatory compliance and internal controls.
• Assisting with finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Rotations across Finance teams and studying towards the AAT.
