Job summary

St Mary's College in Hull is recruiting a Finance Apprentice to join the Trust Central Finance Team. You will gain hands-on experience supporting 15 school academies, learning on the job, and developing professional finance skills while working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will assist with processing orders, invoices and payments, supplier setup, journals and income receipts, and learn how central finance supports schools across the Trust.

Qualifications

• Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage routine processes accurately and meet deadlines.
• Professional and approachable manner, with confidence to communicate courteously by telephone and email.
• Proactive and reliable approach, ability to take ownership of tasks and follow up actions.
• Genuine interest in developing a career in finance.
• Willingness to learn new systems, processes and ways of working.

Responsibilities

• Processing orders, invoices and payments through Sage Intacct.
• Processing payment runs, remittances and supplier reconciliations.
• Setting up suppliers and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Processing journals, recharges and income receipts.
• Supporting procurement, subscriptions and licence renewals in line with Trust policy.
• Responding to finance queries from internal and external stakeholders.
• Providing support to the Senior Finance Assistant and Finance Management Team as required.

You’ll gain valuable hands‑on experience, develop your professional skills and work towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification while being supported by experienced colleagues.
