Job summary

Legal & General in Cardiff is recruiting a Finance Technician for a 6-month fixed-term contract within Group Finance. The role focuses on accurate accounting, financial control and reporting, including daily and month-end journals and reconciliations.

You will work with stakeholders to manage cost centre reporting, cross-charges and ledger integrity, while supporting process improvements. A graduate or active study toward AAT/ACCA/CIMA is required, with strong Excel and familiarity with finance

Qualifications

• Graduate qualification or relevant practical experience.
• Active study toward AAT, ACCA or CIMA.
• Understanding of accounting processes.
• Experience working independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient Excel; confident with Word, PowerPoint and Power BI.
• Collaborative and able to work in a team or on own initiative.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Experience using GFAS, Web ADI, Hubble, SRT or data-loading tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post daily and month-end journals in Oracle accounting system. (in line with financial reporting timetables)
• Complete financial reconciliations and provide explanations for reconciling entries
• Calculate, prepare and post third-party cross-charges across divisions
• Process journal requests and produce management information for cost centre managers
• Analyse ledger postings and resolve queries with finance stakeholders
• Maintain robust financial controls per Group standards and regulatory requirements
• Process cashbook journals, credit notes and payment requests; support item clearance
• Support ledger maintenance, systems development and process improvements
