BACKGROUND

TRAFFIC is a leading non-governmental organisation working to ensure that global trade in wild species is legal and sustainable, for the benefit of the planet and people. At a time of unprecedented biodiversity loss, TRAFFIC provides evidence, solutions, and influence to combat environmental degradation and ensure a nature-positive future.

TRAFFIC International is a charity and limited company registered in the UK. TRAFFIC’s head office, based in Cambridge UK, provides worldwide leadership, coordination, cross-regional and corporate functions. TRAFFIC’s local engagement is managed through programme offices operating under the auspices of the UK charity, with staff based in a hub office and at other strategic locations where necessary. Programme offices operate within a geographic area of responsibility focused on one or multiple countries where TRAFFIC aims to help deliver priority programme outcomes. TRAFFIC works in strategic alliance with IUCN and WWF on wildlife trade issues.

The salary range for this position is between £23,000 to £25,000 p.a. depending on experience and skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

This position will provide support on a wide spectrum of finance tasks. The holder of this role will support the finance team to carry out the day-to-day financial accounting functions of TRAFFIC International, as described below.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
Finance Support Duties:
• Processing of purchase invoices including matching with purchase orders
• Update supplier accounts and send out remittance advices
• Checking and processing of expense forms
• Updating PayPal donations records for TRAFFIC
• Managing the finance email
• Supporting the process around bank payments
• Support FSO with the monthly bank reconciliations for TRAFFIC Global bank accounts
• Support FSO with raising of sales invoices and requests for funds
• Support the finance team in timely submission and approvals of timesheets and collation of monthly project hours for approval by the Project Support Unit
• Archiving of financial files and information
• Analysis of credit card statements and collation of supporting receipts
• Supporting the FSO with updating regional payment schedules and filing of supporting documentation
• Ad hoc administrative tasks as asked for by the finance team
• Undertakes any other duties appropriate to the grade that may be determined from time to time by the Director of Operations

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous experience working in a finance role
• Good organisational skills, with experience gathering, analysing and presenting accurate information
• Good computer literacy skills including excel
• Ability to multi-task and work well within a team
• Be motivated, keen to learn and able to work on own initiative when required
• Good fluency in written and oral English required
