Job summary

MCS Group Belfast is recruiting a Finance Manager to lead the day-to-day finance function within a growing M&E contractor. You will head a team of seven and own financial controls across CIS, VAT and subcontractor-related processes.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will oversee AP, AR, invoicing and related compliance, while guiding staff and delivering accurate financial reporting. This is a newly created role in a thriving business.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Finance supervisory or management role.
• Strong and demonstrable CIS experience - essential.
• CIS experience gained within industry or practice will be considered.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
• Experience with bank reconciliations.
• Qualified or QBE candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing day-to-day activities of the Finance team.
• Leading a team of seven across AP, AR, invoicing and subcontractor processes.
• Providing guidance, training and ensuring departmental objectives are met.
• Managing CIS administration, including monthly returns and HMRC submissions.
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns.

Finance Manager

MCS Group are delighted to be partnering with a highly established and rapidly growing Northern Ireland-based M&E business as they look to appoint a Finance Manager to join their expanding Finance function in Belfast.

The Company

Our client is a well-established Mechanical & Electrical contractor with a strong and loyal customer base, with some customer relationships spanning more than 50 years.

The business has experienced significant growth in recent years and ambitious plans for further expansion as they work towards a substantial future project pipeline.

As part of this continued growth, they are now looking to appoint a Finance Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day Finance function and lead a team of seven.

This is a newly created position, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take genuine ownership within a growing business.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Finance Manager will take ownership of the day-to-day Finance function and lead a team of seven across AP, AR, invoicing and subcontractor-related processes.

The role will be responsible for:

• Overseeing and managing the day-to-day activities of the Finance team
• Providing guidance, support and training to ensure departmental objectives are achieved
• Managing CIS administration, including monthly returns and submissions to HMRC
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Reviewing purchase and sales transactions to ensure VAT is correctly accounted for
• Overseeing subcontractor applications, payments and HMRC verification

The Person

The successful Finance Manager will meet the following criteria:

• Previous experience in a Finance supervisory or management role
• Strong and demonstrable CIS experience - essential
• CIS experience gained within industry or practice will be considered
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
• Experience with bank reconciliations
• Qualified or QBE candidates will be considered
