As a solutions-focused Finance Manager with a growth mindset you will be working within the Special EU Programmes body (SEUPB), a role central to the financial oversight of the PEACEPLUS programme, which provides vital support to peace building and prosperity in Northern Ireland and the Border counties of Ireland. This is an exciting and unique opportunity for someone to manage huge investment capital of €1.14 billion, setting and reviewing annual budgets in collaboration with cross border government departments.

The Special EU Programmes Body is one of six North-South Bodies, established in 1999 as a consequence of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement. The SEUPB has the statutory remit for managing EU funding programmes, helping to foster peace and prosperity across the region. A total of €3.39 billion has been invested through previous programmes, funding over 23,000 projects and touching the lives of more than two million citizens.

The Finance Manager will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, managing the programme’s cashflow to ensure financial stability and timely disbursement of funds. In this highly regulated role, you will have a strong understanding of EU finance and governance, dealing with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including the EU Commission, auditors, Civil Service Departments and project partners. You will gain exposure to project management and the NI and Ireland civil services, building on your existing skills and creating networks across Europe with colleagues in similar EU funded Programmes. You will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills and strong experience in financial management.

Responsibilities

• You will be part qualified with a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification financial management experience, obtained in the past 5 years.
• OR you will have a minimum of 5 years' senior financial management experience obtained within the past 10 years.
• You will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, managing budgets, cashflow and financial reporting.
• You will have experience with financial software, and you will possess advanced skills in Excel and project databases to track, report and audit.
• You will have experience ensuring financial activities meet regulatory standards, with a strong grasp of audit processes and risk management.
• You will have experience in drafting reports to inform senior management decisions.
• You will have experience of managing and leading a team.
