Job summary

SRL Traffic Systems, the UK leader in portable traffic lights and intelligent transport solutions, seeks a Trainee Traffic Systems Technician. No industry experience required; must have a full UK licence and be eager to learn. The role involves field work, training, and progression within a safety‑driven team.

Hours are Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:00pm with overtime and on‑call duties; outdoor work in all weather. Full training, vehicle, and benefits provided to support your development.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points).
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather.
• Practical, safety‑focused and reliable.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willing to learn technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver, set up, and configure portable traffic light systems at customer sites
• Carry out on-site battery exchanges to keep equipment operational
• Inspect, repair, and maintain hire fleet equipment in the depot
• Load, unload, and transport equipment safely using a company vehicle
• Keep accurate records using mobile tech and internal systems
• Provide excellent customer service, ensuring equipment is installed safely and correctly
• Participate in on-call rota and support during out-of-hours situations
