Hours: 37.5 per week

Support specialist military training systems. Keep essential equipment mission-ready. Build your engineering experience with G3 Systems.

The Opportunity

G3 Systems is looking for a capable and motivated Field Services Engineer to join our team supporting specialist military training equipment at the AFV Gunnery Schools in Lulworth, Dorset, and Tidworth, Wiltshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an electrical, electronic or electro-mechanical engineering background who enjoys practical, hands-on work, fault-finding and supporting customers in a technical environment. Experience gained in the British Army, particularly within the Royal Armoured Corps (RAC) or REME, would be particularly valuable.

You will play an important role in keeping our Precision Gunnery Training Equipment (PGTE) and TERRIER Training Systems (TTS) safe, reliable and ready for use, helping military personnel train effectively. Although ideally based at Lulworth, the role will involve travel to other locations across the UK to undertake scheduled maintenance, respond to call-outs and provide technical support. Overnight stays may be required.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Technical Support: Deliver in-service technical support, maintenance and fault-finding for PGTE and TERRIER Training Systems at the AFV Gunnery Schools in Lulworth and Tidworth.
  • Customer Support: Provide on-site assistance to military personnel, supporting the operation of training systems and helping users get the best from the equipment.
  • Safety and System Monitoring: Monitor training system operation to ensure equipment is used safely and in accordance with the required procedures.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Carry out planned preventative maintenance, investigate faults and support corrective maintenance activities to maintain system availability.
  • UK-Wide Field Support: Travel to other UK sites to undertake scheduled maintenance and respond to technical call-outs, including overnight stays where necessary.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Complete maintenance records, technical reports and all associated paperwork accurately and within required timescales.
  • Health, Safety and Quality: Promote a positive safety culture, follow safe systems of work and comply with G3 Systems' Integrated Management System (IMS), including its Quality, Environmental, Safety and Health policies.
What You'll Bring
Essential Qualifications
  • A formal qualification in electrical or electronic engineering, or demonstrable evidence of being a Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person (SQEP).
  • IOSH Working Safely qualification, or a willingness to undertake the training if required.
  • The ability to follow technical instructions, maintenance procedures and safety requirements.
Skills and Experience

We are particularly interested in candidates with one or more of the following backgrounds:

  • Former Royal Armoured Corps (RAC) Gunner Mechanic.
  • Former REME Electrical Mechanic or Gun Fitter.
  • An electrical, electronic or electro-mechanical engineering background.
  • Experience maintaining, repairing or supporting complex equipment and technical systems.
  • An electronics-biased engineering background, with practical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

You will be practical, methodical and safety-conscious, with a positive attitude towards customer service and teamwork. The ability to work independently, manage your workload and communicate effectively with customers and colleagues is essential.

You must also be willing and able to travel to support equipment at locations across the UK.

Security Clearance

Security clearance is required for this position. Applicants must be able to meet the applicable security clearance requirements for the role.
