We’re seeking a Field Service Technician specializing in servicing Automated Liquid Handling (ALH) instruments to support our customer base across Northern England.

As a key member of our UK service team, you’ll provide expert-level installation, maintenance, and repair of Gilson’s ALH instruments, ensuring seamless lab operations for our customers in the life science industry. Comprehensive training is provided. Previous experience in laboratory work and automated liquid handling systems is advantageous.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide quality service to all customers
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with customers and colleagues
  • Maintain and develop customer relations
  • Responds promptly and professionally to all customer inquiries
  • Working with customer service and sales teams to meet service targets
  • Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs
  • Responsible for diagnosing problems, if any, and determining necessary repairs
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams
  • Ensures conformance with established calibration and repair standards
  • Attend regular training to maintain professional and technical knowledge
  • Follow prescribed safety procedures when handling equipment and hazardous materials
  • Maintain accurate records and reports
  • Occasionally assists Gilson Sales Representatives with equipment demonstration at customer sites

SKILLS OR KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to read and follow instructions as posted.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with customers.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in relevant software
  • Ability to manage a busy schedule with relative independence.

PHYSICAL ABILITY

  • Requires good or corrected vision.
  • Ability to lift 25kg

OTHER

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly within the region, overnight stays may be required (up to 50%)
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting beneficial
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in the field
  • Ability to acquire new skills and to accommodate change in the workplace.
