Elevation Recruitment Group's Engineering Services Division is supporting a long-standing client within the Automotive Equipment sector in recruiting a Field Service Technician to join their growing team. The Field Service Technician will cover Bristol, Swindon, Reading, and Andover, installing and servicing tyre changers, wheel balancers, and alignment systems.

Qualifications

  • Experience servicing automotive workshop equipment or similar capital equipment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Previous field-based, customer-facing experience would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with garage environments and workshop operations (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and calibrate tyre changers, wheel balancers, and alignment equipment.
  • Perform diagnostics, fault-finding, and on-site repairs on electro-mechanical systems.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and safety inspections.
  • Respond to breakdown calls and resolve issues efficiently to minimise downtime.
  • Deliver basic operator training to customers following installation.
  • Complete service documentation and reports accurately.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and deliver excellent service.
  • Identify opportunities for service contracts, upgrades, or replacement equipment.

Job description

Elevation Recruitment Group's Engineering Services Division is supporting a long-standing client within the Automotive Equipment sector in recruiting a Field Service Technician to join their growing team.

The Field Service Technician will support with the installation and servicing of automotive workshop equipment, including tyre changers, wheel balancers, and alignment systems. The Field Service Technician is a regional role covering Bristol, Swindon, Reading, and Andover.

The Field Service Technician is a key customer-facing role, working with garages, dealerships, and automotive service centres. You’ll ensure equipment is installed correctly, fully operational, and maintained to the highest standard—helping customers maximise uptime and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, commission, and calibrate tyre changers, wheel balancers, and alignment equipment
  • Perform diagnostics, fault-finding, and on-site repairs on electro-mechanical systems
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and safety inspections
  • Respond to breakdown calls and resolve issues efficiently to minimise downtime
  • Deliver basic operator training to customers following installation
  • Complete service documentation and reports accurately
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and deliver excellent service

Skills and Experience Required
  • Experience servicing automotive workshop equipment or similar capital equipment
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Previous field-based, customer-facing experience would be an asset
  • Good understanding of garage environments and workshop operations (desirable)
  • Strong communication skills and professional approach
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience with tyre equipment, wheel alignment systems, or garage equipment brands (e.g., Corghi, Hunter, Hofmann, Bosch)
  • Basic knowledge of electronics, sensors, and calibration systems
  • Familiarity with compressed air and hydraulic systems
