Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

NOV is seeking a Field Service Technician to join their Service Team based in Manchester.


Reporting to the Service Manager, the technician will support maintenance of customer equipment on site and perform workshop activities for the aftermarket service team as needed.


The ideal candidate's mechanical knowledge should include pumps and rotating equipment with vacuum and pressure systems, although full training will be provided on all product lines.


The role involves liaising with internal stakeholders, managing schedules efficiently to maximize productivity, and maintaining strong customer relations.


The technician will drive continual process improvements, enhance efficiency and performance in industrial markets, and deliver installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance support to customers.


Opportunities for career progression and self-development will be supported by the Service Manager.


This position primarily involves working at customer sites within the UK and overseas, supporting service activities.


Responsibilities
  1. Liaise with service and project teams regarding maintenance activities.
  2. Prepare, review, and approve work packs for service activities.
  3. Conduct mechanical completion checks, factory acceptance checks, electrical tests, compile technical reports, and perform leak/pressure testing.
  4. Provide after-sales services, including inspections, spares, and technical advice, liaising with engineering as necessary.
  5. Ensure compliance with HSE legislation and company policies.
  6. Travel daily to customer sites as required.
  7. Perform other duties as reasonably expected by the service manager.

Essential Qualifications
  • Recognized apprenticeship in mechanical engineering (C&G, ONC, HNC).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Mechanical/electrical knowledge related to installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of industry standards for wastewater treatment.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
