Leidos’ Defense Systems Land Systems Business Area, RF Systems Division is seeking a Field Service Technician to join our team in Bowie, MD, to operate and maintain a complex radar system in the National Capitol Region. This position requires an active DOD – Secret Security Clearance. The technician will work closely with engineers to operate and maintain the radar system, troubleshoot issues, and perform repairs, often traveling to remote facilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Install, integrate, configure, operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair a complex radar system.
  2. Assemble and troubleshoot electronic systems, mechanical parts, cable harnesses, RF coaxial and fiber optic cables, and electronic and computer chassis.
  3. Perform system integration and checkout of repaired or modified equipment.
  4. Analyze equipment failures, determine root cause, and recommend corrective actions.
  5. Prepare reports on equipment discrepancies, propose solutions, and implement preventive maintenance programs.
  6. Maintain accurate parts and equipment inventory records.
  7. Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with a willingness to travel and work in adverse weather conditions.
  8. Obtain tower climber certification and climb cellular towers for troubleshooting and maintenance.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 5+ years of relevant electronics experience, including radar, electronic warfare, or radio communications systems.
  • Formal training in electronics and RF theory.
  • Experience with testing and troubleshooting digital, analog, and RF electronics.
  • Knowledge of military communications systems and encryption devices.
  • Understanding of computer networks (LAN/WAN).
  • Proficiency with test equipment like multimeters, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical connectors and repairs.
  • Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, climb ladders and towers, and work in restricted spaces indoors and outdoors.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD SECRET clearance and reside in or be willing to relocate to Bowie, MD.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Linux OS and command line.
  • Experience with COMSEC equipment such as KG-175, KG-250, SKLs.
  • Over 1 year of tower climbing experience.
  • HVAC maintenance experience.
