Job summary

Getinge is hiring a Field Service Engineer to cover the UK, primarily the South West, South Wales and Midlands. You’ll service, test and repair endoscope reprocessing equipment in hospitals, travel up to 80%, and operate as a self-starter while collaborating with the Service Office and Managers.

You will hold relevant mechanical or electronic engineering qualifications, gain thorough product training, and progress through a competency-based pathway with progression rewards.

Qualifications

  • Background in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Field-based work experience is highly desired.
  • Maintenance experience in medical/pharma or process industries is preferred.
  • Service/testing of medical devices to standards is desirable.
  • IT skills including MS Office; experience with CRM systems like GForce.
  • Strong work ethic, organizational skills, and teamwork with initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Deal with customers professionally and courteously at all times.
  • Perform routine testing and mechanical servicing of Getinge equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical/mechanical faults and perform repairs.
  • Calibrate equipment and report out-of-calibration items.
  • Maintain spare parts stock and respond to call-outs quickly.
  • Prepare service documentation for customers and internal teams.
  • Coordinate with Service/Technical Departments and Managers.
  • Follow returns and non-conformance report procedures.
  • Organize workload and provide timely written/electronic reports.
  • Provide validation reports within required timeframes.
  • Support team members and share sales leads as needed.
  • Comply with Quality System and Health & Safety requirements.

Job Title: Field Service Engineer
Location: Field-based covering South West, South Wales and Midlands region

We're hiring for a motivated and experienced Service Engineer to contribute towards our Surgical Workplaces service team, focussed on our Endoscope Reprocessing portfolio across the South West, South Wales and Midlands region.

Getinge is a well-respected Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), saving lives through the manufacture and maintenance of a range of medical devices and solutions. Our Service Team is at the forefront of our business, responsible for routine servicing, testing and repairing of our equipment in hospitals and facilities throughout the UK and Ireland.

You will have the opportunity to make a difference by utilising your technical knowledge and skills to ensure the smooth operation of our machines in the field, representing the business and building relationships with customers and colleagues to deliver the best possible service.

This is a field-based role and you will need to be a self-starter with experience of managing your own workload. Although you will be mostly working independently, you will be supported by regular contact with the Service Office, Service Managers and our Technical Services Department which has direct access to Getinge manufacturing sites and a wealth of technical know-how and expertise.

The successful candidate will have a background and relevant qualifications in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering. Comprehensive training on Getinge’s equipment will be provided by our dedicated in-house training team. Through our Career Progression Pathway, all Engineers have their development assessed bi-annually against our bespoke Engineers’ competency- based banding structure – meaning that the more you learn and develop, the more you will be rewarded.

Day To Day Responsibilities Will Include
  • Dealing with customers, demonstrating first class interpersonal skills in a courteous and professional manner at all times
  • Carrying out routine testing of Getinge equipment to the relevant standards and undertaking mechanical servicing of equipment
  • Problem solving, combining initiative with a practical and logical approach to all aspects of the job
  • Electrical / mechanical fault finding of equipment
  • Calibration of equipment, where necessary, reporting all faulty equipment or equipment out of calibration to the Line Manager
  • Maintaining and monitoring adequate stock levels of spare parts in order to be able to respond to call-outs in a timely manner
  • Producing quality service documentation for submission to the customer
  • Maintaining regular communication with the internal Service Department, Technical Department and Service Managers.
  • Following the correct returns and non-conformance report procedures at all times
  • Organising and prioritising a continuously changing workload, ensuring that all customers’ calls and enquiries are responded to quickly and effectively
  • Producing accurate and timely written/electronic reports, as and when required/requested.
  • Providing Validation reports in specified time frames.
  • Assisting team members as and when required/requested.
  • Providing sales leads to relevant Service/Sales Managers
  • Observing and complying with Quality System duties and responsibilities at all times
  • Observing and complying with company and on-site Health & Safety requirements at all times

What You Need
  • Relevant qualification in a relevant field or sufficient equivalent experience
  • Experience of field-based work is highly desired
  • Previous experience in a maintenance environment is desired, ideally within a medical, pharmaceutical or other process industry.
  • Previous knowledge and experience of service/testing medical devices to the appropriate standards is desired
  • IT skills including Microsoft Office; experience of using CRM systems such as GForce
  • A strong work ethic and first-rate organisational skills
  • A positive attitude towards working as part of a team and on own initiative, and a willingness to travel and work away from home where necessary
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt under pressure in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Excellent communication skills and a desire to deliver the best possible service to customers
  • HTM2030/01-06 or HTM2010/01-01 certification (desirable)
