Job summary

Carrier Rental Systems is hiring a Service Engineer to repair and maintain diesel-powered pumps and generators both at depot in Peterborough and on customer sites. The role emphasizes Health & Safety compliance and a clean, organized working environment to meet safety and quality standards and ensure uninterrupted operations.

You will service, diagnose, and refurbish equipment, travel to sites, and participate in an on-call rota.

Qualifications

• Mechanical experience with plant equipment, pumps, generators and diesel engines.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification required.
• M&E related apprenticeship or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining, and repairing pumps, generators, and diesel-powered equipment in depot and field environments.
• Preparing and inspecting equipment at the depot to ensure full operability before deployment.
• Carrying out major overhauls and refurbishments of end-of-life equipment.
• Diagnosing faults and performing repairs to minimise downtime.
• Collaborating with the service team, hire controller, and foreman for smooth operations.
• Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintaining a clean, safe working environment and quality standards for equipment.
• Travelling to customer sites and participating in an on-call rota (1 week in 4).
