Job summary

TRS Consulting is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service and calibrate medical diagnostic systems in NHS laboratories and clinical chemistry settings across the UK. The role involves installation, repair, and ongoing service support at customer sites, with a strong emphasis on quality customer interactions.

The position requires a robust field service background in electronics or electro‑mechanical equipment, with a willingness to travel and cover one weekend in four.

Qualifications

• Strong background in field service or technical support within electronics/electro‑mechanical service.
• Experience in high value electronics capital equipment, microscopy, x‑ray or biomedical devices welcome.
• Qualified to ONC / HNC level or above in electronics or related discipline.
• Impeccable customer service skills for customer facing environments.

The role will involve working one weekend in four (during this week you will receive two alternative days off work)

Responsibilities

The service, installation, breakdown, repair and calibration of a wide range of sophisticated laboratory diagnostics systems utilised within pathology departments, NHS laboratories and clinical chemistry environments.

Supporting flow cytometry, cell separation and diagnostics products located at customer sites.

Qualifications

To apply you should be able to demonstrate the following:

• A strong background working in a field service or technical support role, gained within an electronics or electro‑mechanical service or technical support background.
• Applications are welcomed from a wide variety of backgrounds including high value electronics capital equipment, microscopy, cameras, lasers, x‑ray security detection, ex‑forces (weapons guidance, radar, avionics or biomedical engineering), medical device, biomedical engineering, pathology laboratory diagnostics and laboratory device.
• Qualified to a minimum ONC / HNC level or above in electronics or another relevant technical discipline.
• Impeccable customer service skills and the ability to remain confident in customer facing environments.
